Product Information

Xtex 250 mg/5 ml Oral Solution is a mucolytic medicine used as an adjunctive therapy for respiratory tract conditions where there is excessive, thick (viscous) mucus, helping to make phlegm less sticky and easier to cough up. It contains carbocisteine and is sugar free and non-drowsy. This is a pharmacy medicine, so the sale should be reviewed by the pharmacy team before it is completed. It is not suitable for everyone, including people with an active peptic ulcer. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or considering use for a child, please speak to your pharmacist; the solution is not recommended for children under 2 years of age. If symptoms persist or worsen, seek advice. Our pharmacist is available for advice. Always read the label and the patient information leaflet before use.

How To Use

Adults (including the elderly) and children 12 years and over: usually 15 ml three times a day, which may be reduced to 10 ml three times a day once a satisfactory response is obtained. Children 6-12 years: 5 ml (250 mg) two to three times a day. Children 2-6 years: 2.5 ml (125 mg) two to three times a day. Not for children under 2 years. Use the measuring device provided. Speak to your pharmacist before use if pregnant, breastfeeding, or unsure about a dose for a child. Always read the label and the patient information leaflet before use.
