Preparation H Clear Gel is a clear, non-greasy gel that provides soothing, cooling relief from the discomfort of haemorrhoids (piles). Its astringent action helps to relieve itching, soreness and irritation in and around the back passage. The gel contains witch hazel (hamamelis water), a natural astringent that helps to soothe and calm the affected area. Because it is clear and non-staining, it can be applied discreetly. This is the UK/Irish Clear Gel formulation, which contains witch hazel as its active ingredient and does not contain phenylephrine (a decongestant/vasoconstrictor found only in certain non-UK Preparation H variants). For external and local use in and around the anal area. Suitable for adults and children aged 12 years and over. Pack size: 50g. Always read the label and the patient information leaflet before use.

How To Use

For adults and children aged 12 years and over. Before use, wash your hands, then gently clean the affected area with mild soap and warm water and pat dry. Apply the gel freely to the affected area after each bowel movement and whenever you feel dryness, itching or discomfort from piles. For internal application, where a nozzle is supplied, attach it, gently insert it into the back passage, squeeze out a small amount of gel and withdraw slowly. Wash your hands and clean the nozzle after each use. For external and local use only. If symptoms do not improve within 7 days, worsen, or if there is any bleeding, stop use and speak to your doctor or pharmacist. Not suitable for children under 12 years except on medical advice.

Active Ingredients

The active ingredient is witch hazel (hamamelis water), a natural astringent that helps tighten and soothe the skin and tissues around the back passage, easing the itching and soreness associated with piles. This UK/Irish Clear Gel does not contain phenylephrine or any other decongestant.
