Product Information

Microlax is a ready-to-use micro-enema for the short-term relief of constipation, and for clearing the lower bowel before rectal examination. It works locally in the lower bowel to soften and release the stool, so it is unlikely to cause the bowel habituation that can occur with some oral laxatives. It usually produces a bowel movement within around 30 minutes. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or using it for a young child, speak to your pharmacist before use. Do not use if you have severe abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting, or undiagnosed rectal bleeding; speak to a pharmacist or doctor if constipation persists. Keep out of the sight and reach of children. Always read the label and the patient information leaflet before use. Our pharmacist is available for advice.

How To Use

For rectal use. Remove the seal from the nozzle and squeeze out a drop to lubricate the tip. Insert the full length of the nozzle into the rectum (for children under 3 years, insert only half the length of the nozzle as described in the leaflet). Squeeze the tube to empty the contents, then withdraw while keeping the tube compressed. A bowel movement usually follows within about 30 minutes. Use only as directed on the label and leaflet.

Active Ingredients

Per 5 ml: sodium citrate dihydrate 450 mg, sodium lauryl sulfoacetate 45 mg and sorbitol 3.125 g, with glycerol, sorbic acid and purified water.
