Eyewear and accessories from Opticaid are stocked here, covering the Remaldi classic aviator night driving glasses and the aluminium glasses wallets in the I Like Birds design.
Night driving glasses use a tinted lens, typically yellow, intended to reduce the perceived glare of oncoming headlights. Opinions on how much difference they make vary, and they are not a substitute for an eye test: if oncoming lights have started to bother you noticeably more than they used to, that is a reason to have your eyes checked rather than to buy a tinted lens. They are also not intended for use in daylight, where a tinted lens reduces the light reaching the eye. The aluminium wallets are a different item entirely, a hard case that protects glasses in a bag or pocket, where a soft pouch does not. A hard case is the single thing that most extends the life of a pair of glasses. The wallets are slim enough for a jacket pocket, which is the usual reason people leave a bulkier case at home and end up with scratched lenses.
Opticaid is stocked at Ronaghan's Pharmacy, a family-run Irish pharmacy, alongside reading glasses and eye care. If your vision has changed, book an eye test with an optician. Browse the range below.
