The cradle cap shampoo is used externally during bathing, worked gently into the scalp and rinsed, and it is intended for the flaky scalp patches that are common in young babies. Cradle cap usually settles on its own over time, and the shampoo is used to help soften and lift the scaling rather than to force it. Avoid picking at the patches, as that is what can leave the skin sore.
