There are several species of Ginseng, all belonging to the botanical group Panax, which means "all heal" in Greek. Ginseng includes both American Ginseng and Korean (or Asian) Ginseng and only these types contain the active ingredient Ginsenosides.

American Ginseng can be found throughout Northern America and is milder than Korean Ginseng. Korean Ginseng is also known as Red or Asian Ginseng and is the classic variant which has been used for centuries in traditional Chinese medicine. Ginseng is manly produced in South Korea, China, Canada and the United States.
